RUAHA KILIMATONGE CAMP – RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
Ruaha Kilimatonge camp is a budget accommodation situated on the foot of Kilimatonge hill on the banks of the dry River Valley in the game –rich Ruaha National Park Tanzania. The camp is overlooking the giant slab of Rock with wide range of animals coming closer. It takes approximately 2-3 hours flight from Dar-el saalam to Ruaha national park Msembe airstrip and 12 hours’ drive by Road from Dar-el salam to the park Via Mikumi or morogoro .
Ruaha Kilimatonge Camp consists of 4 en- suite spacious and comfortable Tents configured with Twin/double beds and single beds overlooking the giant rock, river beds and the Park with comfort. Tents are clean and bug free with en suite private facilities of flushing chemical toilet , Bathrooms with hot and cold showers, mosquito nets , wooden chairs , solar lighting , Pillows are plumbed, comfortable mattresses , free bottled water in the rooms , free toiletries, had wash basin , slippers to mention but few. Each Tent has large sitting areas and private outside space with comfortable sofa seats that gives a stunning view over the park, Hill , river bed and surrounding areas. Tents are well equipped with comfortable beds containing queen sized beds . There is a fire place pit with comfortable seats where guests relax especially after a Tanzania safari as they share stories ,it also provides warmth during chill weather .Tents have singles beds for individuals , doubles / twin beds for couples with different costs ranging from 150$ per night and above. The rate keeps changing as they go high during peak season than in low season.
Ruaha Kilimatonge Camp offers more services and facilities which include;
An open sided dinining tent with tables and safari shares with the view of the park serving different cuisines both international and African- inspired meals that meets guests choice. Meals offered include breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner (in and outdoor diners) served by welcoming, friendly staff, you can have meals in any place of your choice either private outside space overlooking the park and animal roaming around the camp or in the dining areas. Bush breakfasts are also offered while enjoying morning sunrises and bush dinners while overlooking the stars in the sky.
Services include; Free parking space available, offers airport pick -ups and drop-offs, Laundry and house- keeping services available. There is shaded lounge areas with confortable sofa seats near campfire pit overlooking the wilderness and animal coming closer the camp. They have quiet reading area for relaxation.
Activities to do while at the lodge include; game viewing in the park and around the camp that will give you a chance to see more wildlife roaming along the river, walking night safaris , Guided nature walks ,birding/ bird watching in the park and many more activities.
Ruaha national park is the second largest national park in Tanzania after Nyerere national park found in the south of the central mid- point of Tanzania and west of Iringa Town . The park was established in 1964 and It covers the total area of 20,226 square kilometers (7,809 ) square miles The Park is most visited and has different categories of accommodations that include Budget, Mid- range/ moderate and Luxury/expensive accommodations that are convenient and affordable to any travellers, tourists visiting the park. Ruaha national park has a variety of wildlife that includes; large herds of elephants, 10 percent of lions, Zebras , Buffaloes , cheetahs , Giraffes , antelopes , hyenas, Hippos and many more and over 570 species of birds that includes ; endemic species, migratory species with ostriches, starling , weaver birds, Kingfishers, hornbills etc. There are more activities to do while in the park and at the lodge which include; , game drive in the park which enables you to spot wide range and different animals in the park , Guide nature walks in the park, Hot air balloon rides that gives good view of the Savannah plains at 450$ per person , hand craft safaris, Camping ,Flying safaris, walking night safaris, cultural visits in the local villages, Bird watching/Birding since the park has more species bird ,the watchers can’t be disappointed to mention but a few.
